For many parents the first stumbling block is at the very start… is bilingualism a good idea? Is it common? Will my child grow up to feel different from everyone else?
These and other questions make parents doubt their own instinct, and sometimes decide to opt for monolingualism. Figures clearly show that bilingualism and multilingualism are the norm around the world. It is quite common in many countries for children to regularly interact in three languages or more from a very young age.
