
De Madelief, Dutch Education in Ireland
This is the last heritage language teachers’ meeting before the summer break and we will host a presentation by Frederique van Buuren from De Madelief, Dutch Language and Culture school, to continue our HL education in Ireland series to best understand the full experience of multilingual children who attend complementary education in the home language. De Madelief, Dutch Language and Culture school, has resumed face to face teaching.
After the presentation, we will open the floor to questions and comments. The meeting is free and open only to Mother Tongues members.

Frederique van Buuren
Frederique van Buuren, chairperson of De Madelief School Board, has been involved with the school since its foundation in 2015. In the first 2 years Frederique was in the role of school leader. After that she taught senior infants and first-class for three years. Since August 2019, she has been the chairperson of the board and in this role and she hopes, together with the other board members and the school leader, to set a good course for the coming four years.
Frederique moved to Ireland in 2007 and after a long career in the insurance world, she now works as a linguist / freelance translator and text editor, which fits in well with her academic background in English Language and Culture / MA in Translation Studies. Frederique is also a designer of home design and fashion accessories. She has two daughters who are in De Madelief.
