Celebrating language diversity through a Home Language Program

This session focuses on exploring ways in which home languages can be nurtured and celebrated within schools to the benefit of the whole learning community. We will explore an example of developing a home language program and look at diverse approaches to nurturing these through sharing practical ideas and resources. The format of the session will include an initial presentation followed by time to discuss questions, share practices and make connections with others. This session is suitable for teachers, parents and early years practitioners.

    Jenny O’Fee has worked in the field of international education for the past 22 years. Having started her teaching career in Northern Ireland she moved to teach internationally and since then has worked in a number of international schools in Europe both as a teacher and School Principal. Jenny is passionate about fostering intercultural understanding in communities through celebrating language diversity and multilingualism. She believes that the continued well-being and growth of communities are founded on developing an empathetic culture of curiosity and understanding.
